In honor of the Oscars last night I’ll talk a bit about Julie and Julia. In case you haven’t seen, it’s about a woman (Julie) cooking through a Julia Childs cookbook in a year. At CKWL, we aren’t working so much with a cookbook, but thanks to the forethought of Leadership Team member Susie Giampalmo ’12 (pictured right), volunteers who come in on Tuesday nights are learning a variety of new skills as they create meals from scratch (using donations from Walmart rather than already made food from ARAMARK and the W&L Marketplace).
Here’s a list of dishes made/skills acquired thus far:
–BBQ Wings (with homemade BBQ)
-pan fried sausage
-hand breaded chicken tenders
-meatloaf muffins (the plan for tonight)
